About Me

The about me page is the first place I go when I visit a website, etsy shop, or blog, so here is a little bit about me!

I'm Emily. I've been married since May 2011 and we have two fur babies, as my best friend calls them. Marriage is the best thing ever. While it is continually a work in progress, I love everyday I get to spend with my best friend. It truly is bliss!

I love a good cup of coffee or latte, laughing, going on drives to nowhere in particular, autumn leaves, doing hair and making jewelry. As much as I love eating, I am not a good cook, nor do I enjoy cooking! I'm not very good at organizing and I hate planning. I have always saved everything till the last minute! Hey, I work best under pressure.

If you were to walk into my house, it wouldn't take you long to figure out what my favorite colors are. Light teal, brown, burnt orange, and gray--hence the gray poppy. I suppose I should really branch out a little as I have noticed these are litterally the only colors in my house!

My everyday style is pretty casual. Usually a solid shirt with a great pair of jeans, a necklace or a pair of earrings. Again with the branching out problem, my entire closet is almost entirely from Target. I love Target, what can I say? Who doesn't? I'm a sucker for their plain, solid shirts. Always a great deal and they have such a variety of colors! I may or may not have one of each color. Of the same shirt. It's sad, I know. But hey, my hair is always different! That is one area, friends, in which I do love to experiment.

I am a Christian, by God's grace, and love that God is such an artist! I love the textures, colors, and beauty in nature.

One of my favorite things to do is to go on a drive through the mountains with my husband and a hot cup of coffee (are you catching my drift? coffee. lover.). I'd like to consider myself an outdoors-woman and while I do enjoy camping and hiking every once in a while, driving, drinking coffee, holding hands, and singing along with the radio is my favorite way to enjoy a good view of nature!

I am a paramedic full time, but in my free time I run an etsy shop, emilynicolejewelry.etsy.com. I have always enjoyed making things, but was never particularly creative or artsy during high school since my only focus was on achieving my dream of becoming a paramedic. Now that I am a paramedic and loving my job, I am enjoying branching out and embracing creativity I didn't know I had!

As I mentioned, I love doing hair and dream of going to cosmetology school one day. I love trying out beauty products and experimenting with make up. I like big hair and I cannot lie. . . On any given day, I wouldn't be caught dead without some volume in my hair!

I am obsessed with reading birth stories and actually another dream of mine is to become a midwife and birth educator.
